Last Date for Application: 20.09.2024

PRS Legislative Research is a premier research organization with the mission to strengthen India's democracy by enhancing the effectiveness of Parliament and state assemblies. These key institutions are responsible for law-making, holding governments accountable, and allocating public funds. PRS aims to ensure that these bodies have access to high-quality information and analysis to perform their duties effectively, while also facilitating citizen engagement with elected representatives.
Internship Opportunities
PRS offers internships throughout the year on a rolling basis. The internships are divided into two main departments: Research and Outreach.
- Research Team: Focuses on analyzing legislative and policy issues of current relevance.
- Outreach Team: Monitors the functioning of legislatures and legislators, manages citizen engagement, and serves as the primary interface between PRS and Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs).
Interns may apply to work in either or both teams based on their interests.
Structure of the Internship
The nature of the internship varies depending on whether Parliament is in session:
- During Parliament Sessions:
- Interns work closely with analysts on various research projects.
- They may also assist the outreach team with media-related tasks.
- During Non-Session Periods:
- The internship is tailored to the individual interests of the intern.
- Interns are matched with analysts or outreach team members whose work aligns with their interests.
Internship Project:
Successful completion of the internship requires the intern to pursue and complete a specific project. This project involves assisting analysts or outreach team members with their work, alongside the intern's own research or outreach activities.
Duration:
The duration of the internship is flexible, typically ranging between four to eight weeks. Interns are expected to report to the office during their internship.
Note:
This is an unpaid internship. PRS does not provide accommodation or remuneration.

All interns should possess a deep interest in the workings of Parliament and the legislative process in India. Additional qualifications based on the type of internship include:
